PRESIDENCY ANGRY ON RUSSIAN PUBLIC TV
23.03.2005: SAFAX - Chisinau
Moldovan Presidency demanded Russian Public TV (ORT) the right to reply, after it broadcast a news story qualified by Moldovan authorities as libel.

ORT put on air a report about a meeting organized by Moldovan President on social protection measures for World War II veterans. The report criticized the fact
that proposed measures envisaged Romanian Army (which fought, until 1944, for Nazis, and after that – for Allies) veterans together with Soviet veterans.

A press release by Presidency shows that after a week the demand was made, ORT did not response.

This is a second conflict between Moldovan authorities and Russian Public Broadcaster. Several weeks ago, broadcasting authority in Chisinau accuesd ORT for implication in electoral campaign, warning that it could withdraw it’s right to broadcast in Moldova.
